They say that it doesn’t matter how good you are, how much experience you have…there’s always someone younger and cheaper ready to take your job. So sportscasters of the world, let us introduce you to a pair of TEN YEAR OLD sportscasters who are already calling high school sports and getting pretty good at it.
The story comes from NTV in Nebraska where Jack Ortegren and Demetrios Theoharis have their own online broadcast called “The Cube”. The pair have the support of their parents, both fathers are teachers at the school, and the school itself in spreading their brand of high school sports coverage as far as it’ll go.
Jack Ortegren and Demetrios Theoharis are 10-year-old announcers for Hastings High sports. They started an online broadcast called The Cube a couple of weeks ago. It is a web based sportscast where you can see the games from your laptop, tablet or phone.
Both Jack and Demetrios have different jobs while doing their online broadcast. “I usually say scored by someone and just does play by play,” says Demetrios. A career in the sports industry is something they both want to pursue in the future. “I think it’s fun to know all of the plays and what they do in the stats and keep up on the games,” says Jack.
The boys say they practice to get the sportscaster lingo.
