Being a sports broadcaster, you have to have a thick skin…criticism is part and parcel of being a public figure. But “criticism” doesn’t even begin to cover to abuse and hatred that some female members of the sports media fraternity are subject to on a daily basis.
Just Not Sports recently posted a sobering look at the difference between the way men and women are treated in this industry when it comes to public interaction. The almost 5 minute video features random men reading abusive, hateful and deplorable tweets to a pair of well respected and talented female sports writers, Julie DiCaro and Sarah Spain. The tweets, which the women have already read, strike a chord with both when read aloud.
